What To Expect

Now that you've officially booked me as your photographer, the only things left to do are choose your outfits, show up to your session, and be ready to have some fun!
For families with young children, one of the best ways to get them to smile and play during our family session is to have a fun reward ready for them post-session. Whether it’s a favorite snack, an activity, or a show a reminder of their prize for cooperating is usually very helpful. (Kline’s ice cream is right across the street from my neighborhood) And if they don't cooperate, don't stress. Family photos are for documenting memories - and this is part of the life stage you're in, right?
After your session, you will receive your finalized gallery within 14 days of the session date. At that point you can chose your favorites and make upgrades. Be sure to download and save your chosen and/or purchased images. as the online link will eventually be cleared.

Keep to a neutral color scheme with pops of natural and/or pastels.
For every four people try to have one small print.
Opt for Henleys over button downs or collar shirts. Collars tend to hide faces especially for older siblings in newborn sessions.
Avoid pieces with large logos, words or bold prints.
Don't forget about footwear. Black socks and sneakers will distract from the image.
Be mindful that it is a white studio. Please don’t wear work boots or any other shoes that may leave marks on the furniture. (That being said it is a studio designed with kids in mind. A little soap and oxyclean can fix most things. I’m just referring to avoiding anything caked in mud, red clay, oil etc)
Bare feet are great in the studio, but remember to trim and clean nails.
Look for clothes with texture and movement
Layers can add visual interest, This works especially well in outdoor sessions.
Come with clean, styled hair. Editing things such as hair color and roots will be an additional edit charge, so have hair done at least a week before the session, or use touch up powder.
Come with clean , manicured nails. If doing a polish opt for a natural or muted color.
Use the styling resources: the client closet, style boards, hair and makeup artist
Styling is a crucial element to any photography session. Ultimately clients choose a photographer based on their portfolio. In order to obtain a look consistent with my work, use these styling tips.
What to wear
Hair and Makeup
To make your session feel even more special, I offer complimentary professional hair and makeup for one person with every full session, provided by a trusted third-party artist. It’s a wonderful way to relax and feel your best before stepping in front of the camera. Whether you’re celebrating a milestone or simply want to feel polished and pampered, this added touch ensures you’ll look as beautiful as the memories we’re capturing
Reserve your appointment with Rebecca K as soon as possible.
If you have a newborn session, it won’t be until we set the exact date, but please reach out to her beforehand so she knows about the session.
Please contact me if she is unavailable for backup hair and makeup artists

Prep Work
Arrive in hair and makeup or arrange to meet
the make up artist at the studio prior to the session
Bring a comb, chapstick & some jokes
If you are having hair and makeup done at the studio we can start with some of the kids or just let them relax. This is a very child led studio.
Please don’t bring snacks with food dye. (white studio problems!) Cheerios, puffs, water etc are great!
Have nails clean and trimmed. I recommend a natural or muted color polish
Have roots touched up (or use a touch up powder) or wear something to cover. A headband, scarf or hat work well
Don't use self tanner lotion. It tends to pull orange in editing
Don’t practice smile with children. We want their authentic selves to shine through
Wear and bring bug repellent if it is an outdoor session
Don’t forget the EpiPen if anyone has allergies especially for outdoor sessions!
Make it a family date day ! This is just the first activity.
Klines is right across the street!

FAQ
Do you help with posing?
Yes, I do! I think of my style as life-inspired. Meaning I will set you up in a pose but I encourage the family to “ad lib” from there , to give us natural images unique to your family.

How long is my session?

With the exception of special event minis my sessions don’t have a set time limit. They generally last between 60-90 minutes. I never try to rush a session and want to give a shy or unenthusiastic child a lot of time to warm up, but I also won’t pressure them to keep going if it is obvious they are done.

When will we get the photos?

You will receive a link to your password protected online gallery in about 14 days.

How can i Purchase prints and Albums?

All upgrades and purchases can be made in the gallery at the time of viewing.

I cannot wait to preserve some amazing memories for you. Please let me know if you have any questions before your session. I'll see you soon!
